Summer Camp

Summer Camp

Every year Muskerry Pony Club organises a residential camp during the first week of July. For decades this camp was held in the beautiful grounds of Ryecourt Estate in Cloughduv.

In 2015 we were lucky to find a wonderful new venue at Carrigdarrery House, Lissarda. For the next five years Muskerry had wonderful weeks for upwards of 55 members, hosted by former DC Róisín Crowley and the FitzGerald family.

Covid-19 restrictions of 2020 did not allow for a camp but we did hold a substitute Training Clinic.

For 2021 we were lucky enough to be allowed host a non-residential camp at Eddie & Ursula McDonagh's in Bealnamorrive and things were back in full swing with no restrictions at McDonagh's for Camp 2022.

We were delighted to have our camp hosted for 2023 at the property of John & Gráinne Crean at Windsor, Ovens. John & Gráinne will very kindly be hosting us again for 2024.

A crucial part of camp are our instructors and the club is very grateful to our wonderful instructors who make this event so formative and so memorable for all participants. Thanks also to the hard-working Muskerry parents who cook, clean up, supervise, and dismantle everything and pack it away until the following year. The running of Camp is a 'Big Ask' of the parents every year, but we all rise to the challenge and get the job done.

Members from age 12 upwards can stay at Camp overnight (in a caravan or tent provided by you). Ponies camp too where we can arrange stabling. Recent members, and the under 12's attend on a daily basis.  All members must have have attended at least five mounted rallies in the previous year to be eligible to attend Summer Camp.
